A 14-year boy from Sadik Village Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi has been ordered to be sent to Mpemba Reformatory Centre by the Mangochi First Grade Magistrate’s Court for committing house breaking and theft offences.

Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi has confirmed saying the order was provided on February 2, 2022.

The juvenile has a criminal record and started stealing at the tender age of 8 as provided by prosecutor Sub Inspector Regina Chikungwa in Court proceedings as his cases have been diverted several times at the Police station.

He has been stealing from various people within Mangochi township to the extent that an angry mob wanted to demolish his father’s house and on December 11, 2021 , he broke into a certain woman’s house after he dugea hole in front of the house and break away with assorted property including a Panasonic radio worthy K100,000.00

He was apprehended by members of the Community who brought him to the police as he pleaded guilty to all charges levelled against him after appearing in Court.

In mitigation, the juvenile said he had nothing to say but prosecutor Chikungwa reminded the court that the boy is a bad trait in the community and his behaviour cannot be tolerated hence prayed for a custodial penalty which First Grade Magistrate Roy Kakutu concurred with the state.

He therefore ordered him to be sent to Mpemba Reformatory Centre until the board approves that he is changed.
