Cleaners at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital have threatened to continue striking, should their contractor fail to pay them their dues.

They have this morning downed tools, leaving the hospital interior premises uncleaned.

According to one of the cleaners who opted for anonymity said, they are tired of working without pay and some have not been paid since December.

The development comes barely a week after cleaners at Zomba central hospital stages protests on similar grounds

Commenting on the matter Director of the contracted Firm Tee Kay Investment, Mariam Jafali, has given assurance that the arrears will be paid by this weekend.

Currently a hospital administration representative and officials of the contracted firm are holding talks with the cleaners on the way forward.
