Former Minister of Information and Digitization Mark Botomani backed leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa for appointing a bloated Shadow Cabinet.

Nankhumwa has appointed a 33 member shadow cabinet surpassing that of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Tonse Alliance.

The bloated Cabinet has attracted criticism from the government bench with many saying Nankhumwa has not done what he always preaches.

Speaking in an interview Botomani said Nankhumwa couldn’t appoint a lean cabinet as his cabinet positions matches those Chakwera appointed.

Botomani further dismissed claims that the shadow cabinet has not included members of UDF which is DPP partner.

According to Botomani, the shadow cabinet has included UDF members; Esther Jolobala who has been appointed minister of Gender and Ishmael Mkumba who has been appointed deputy minister of education.

Botomani has also said the shadow ministers will work as spokespersons on matters concerning their ministries.
