Some auxiliary nurses at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre have expressed their dissatisfaction with the reduction of their top up allowances from K62, 000 to K25, 000.

According to the representative of the nurses, Enipher Chimbelenga they are surprised that they are still getting the lower allowances despite a determination by the Ombudsman in 2020 which said the deduction was unfair.

The nurses are more surprised because their colleagues in other districts are getting the K62, 000 allowances.

As such, they want an explanation from the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the ministry is yet to comment on the matter.
