Former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council member Ken Msonda has hinted that three top members of the party are the ones tarnishing the image of the party.

He had mentioned Francis Mphepo, Chimwemwe Chipungu as well as Spokesperson for the Party Shadreck Namalomba as the master minders of the fracas within the party.

These remarks come barely after Msonda and Joe Nyirongo had obtained an injunction stopping all the appointments made from 2 October 2021 and that includes the position of Party spokesperson that Shadreck Namalomba holds.

Recently, party leader Peter Mutharika has been making party appointments that include the appointment of Esther Majaza as DPP’s Deputy National Director responsible for the Central region, Daod Chikwanje as Deputy National Director for Protocol responsible for Eastern Region, and Peter Mukhito as Deputy National Director of elections for the Southern Region.

Msonda alleges that there are people who are planning on selling the party, hence a need to stop the divisions happening in the party.

There have been divisions and disagreements in the Party with some members questioning the legality of the appointments saying they were not speaking to the DPP Constitution.

While on the recent development, DPP distanced itself from a 33 member shadow cabinet announced in Parliament weeks ago by Leader of Opposition, Kondwani Nankhumwa saying the cabinet has no DPP blessing.

The DPP is going to Convention next year where the torchbearer of the party, Secretary-General, Treasurer General, Party’s Spokesperson among other positions are to be voted by Members of the National Governing Council.
