A 42-YEAR-OLD man of Kitwe has committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree using a car seat belt, after his business collapsed and properties were grabbed by the shylock, FaceofMalawi can confirm.

Barry Chanda, an occupational contractor of Mukuba Natwange decided to kill himself following the collapse of his businesses.

According to his wife Dorica Kalundo, Mr. Chanda planned to kill himself after his business collapsed and after his household goods were grabbed from him by the shylock and other court issues.

Copperbelt province acting police commanding officer Tresphord Kasale has confirmed the incident.

Mr. Kasale said Mr. Chanda was found hanging on a tree along Kitwe- Kalulushi road after Mindola dam turn off.

“The deceased was found hanging at a distance of 2.5metres with a seat belt he cut from his car BCB 5646 Toyota RAV4 which was found parked beside the road, currently the body is deposited in Kitwe Teaching hospital awaiting postmortem,” he said.

This comes barely a day after a seven-year-old boy of Kalulushi committed suicide by hanging himself.
