Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that 3 Malawian nationals who were residing in Ukraine have successfully reunited with their families.

They were among several foreigners who sounded an SOS for evacuation from the war struck nation.

Thousands of people continue to flee the troubled Ukraine that is currently under heavy bombardment by the invading Russian military forces.

Foreign affairs ministry officials have been liaising with the Malawi mission in Berlin to facilitate the evacuation of Malawians to safety in neighboring Poland and other countries.

At the last count, 11 Malawians were confirmed to have been in Ukraine and Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, John Kabaghe, indicates that 5 are still processing their travel arrangements from Poland, while 3 will remain in neighboring nations on academic grounds.
