Vice President Saulos Chilima has emphasized on proper planning for this year’s Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) to ensure that the country sources cheaper fertilizer and that people access farm inputs on time.

Addressing a gathering in Kasungu that welcomed him to the district this morning while on his official duties, Chilima said the country needs to start sourcing fertilizer earlier but it should also be at a cheaper cost.

Chilima stressed that with the 2022/2023 financial year starting in April, the country should have enough time to source fertilizer.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Kasungu South East who is also Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda , raised the issue of challenges in the AIP earlier, saying a number of people have failed to access fertilizer in the 2021 AIP program and there is need for proper planning in this year’s program.

The Kasungu South East MP spoke as representative for Kasungu Central MP Ken Kandodo.
