Government has said it is still monitoring the spate of attacks in South Africa, which have been tense this week.

Foreign Affairs Spokesperson John Kabaghe has told the press that government is ready to engage the South African government if the situation escalates so that they map the way forward.

Despite no official records of Malawians being attacked in the spate of xenophobic attacks, spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs John Kabaghe said that government is closely monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, Tyrone Seale, who is the Acting Spokesperson for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa who is also the chairperson of the security organ for SADC said law enforcement authorities in that country are working on the clock.
