Human rights activist Ian Desmond Simbota applauds the Malawi Police for recruiting the first two persons with albinism in the service.

The two police recruits are identified as Hamid Vasco and Brenda Mhlanga.

Writing on his social media page, Simbota said the country’s police service will now be inclusive following the development.

He said; “These are the two guys who have broken the record by being the first to be Police Officers with Albinism in Malawi and as person with Albinism myself, am very happy and proud of this development.”

According to Simbota he lobbied for this during the time he was Association of Persons with Albinism (APAM) president.

“APAM lobbied for this when I was President & am very proud once again that for the first time in history, we will have an Inclusive Malawi Police Service,” he said.
