Former President Peter Mutharika, who is also the president for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has issued a new seating plan for opposition MPs in Parliament.

In the recent sitting plan, Mutharika has moved leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa to sit number .

Traditionally, a leader of opposition in Parliament occupies a middle seat which, in Mutharika’s readjustments, has been allocated to Mulanje South West’s George Chaponda.

While indicating that he has not received the communication, Nankhumwa has expressed surprise at the development.

The Leader of Opposition had reshuffled the seating plan on opposition benches until a court order obtained by DPP and Mutharika’s spokesperson Shadric Namalomba blocked him.
