President Lazarus Chakwera on Monday embarked on a tour to inspect maize fields starting with Thyolo District in the Southern Region.

The tour gave the President  an opportunity to directly interact with local farmers in their field.

Speaking after inspecting the maize field in the area of Village M’mambo, Traditional Authority Mchilamwera and thereafter in Tholora village, Traditional Authority Ngolingoliwa, Chakwera said he was very glad that the local farmers had an opportunity to express their needs and aspirations to him without fear.

“My administration will continue supporting farming households and all sector players along the value chain in creating a robust Agricultural industry that will create sustainable jobs and wealth for our people,” said Chakwera.

Malawi vision 2063, which has Agricultural productivity and commercialization as one of the pillars will be achieved through this kind of interventions, he said.
