Celebrated Malawian Engineer and Scholar Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka has been appointed as Managing Director of Helios Towers Malawi, formerly Airtel Towers Limited.
The development comes barely days after Airtel Malawi Limited sold its Towers to Helios Towers Malawi at the tune of 54.7 million dollars, which is close to 44 billion kwacha.
Mtumbuka confirmed his appointment in an updated posted on his linkedin seen by this publication.
Until his appointment, Mtumbuka was serving as Chief Executive Officer for UbuntuNet Alliance.
President Lazarus Chakwera also appointed Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka as member of the National Planning Commission (NPC).
