Information reaching this publications indicates that Nkhunga police detectives seized a set of gadgets which they suspect Yesaya Qoto was using to manufacture k5000 banknotes.
Qoto was arrested last week after he was allegedly found in possession of K575,000 counterfeit currency of K5,000 notes at Dwangwa trading centre in Nkhotakota.
Deputy spokesperson for Central East Police Region, Inspector Henry Mnjere said the seized gadgets include 3 processors, 3 printers, 2 monitors, and 1 laptop computer which are suspected to have been used for money manufacturing syndicate.
“The items were found in the suspect’s shop located at Kande trading centre in Nkhata Bay District,”he said.
The suspect, Yesaya Qoto 24, is appearing in court to answer the charge of being found in possession of counterfeit currency.
He hails from Mwerekete Village, Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District.
