Chikwawa police has confirmed the death of 3 people, husband and wife, and minibus driver in a road accident last evening.
Police says the accident happened near Kulima village in Ngabu along the Blantyre-Chikwawa M1 road after minibus tried to to overtake another vehicle resulting in a head-on collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The husband and wife, who were riding the motor cycle, were pronounced dead upon arrival at Ngabu Rural Hospital.
The driver, who sustained a jaw fracture, died later while receiving treatment at Chikwawa District Hospital.
Other ten passengers escaped with minor injuries.
