The High Court in Lilongwe has commenced hearing of a case where 8 suspects including former United Democratic Front (UDF) spokesperson Ken Ndanga are accused of having a hand in the death of three family members following the torching of United Transformation Movement (UTM) office in Lilongwe.

When the case resumed this morning before High Court Judge Annabel Mtalimanja, the state paraded its second witness in the name of Hamilton Bester.

Bester told the court about preparations from the month of April in Area 28 at Kaphiri, until the wee hours of day of the arson, April 5.

He also gave details of how former UDF spokesperson Ken Ndanga was involved by holding meetings and offering cash and cellphones for transportation and accommodation respectively.

According to Halmiton, the Kattar Gang comprised of nearly twenty members including the seven accused, and some that are still on the run.

The witness step by step told the court about the plan, intimidating statements to some that seemed afraid, and fueling of the vehicles, as well as a two-tonner that was assigned to carry around ten tyres used in the arson.
