Police in Chikwawa have arrested two suspects identified as White Shuga, 31 and Emmanuel Msosa, 20 for allegedly robbing two businessmen cash amounting to K1.6 million and 9 cellphones valued at K269,000.00.

Chikwawa Police Station Public Relations Officer Sergeant Dickson Matemba has confirmed the development saying that in the wee hours of 1st May, 2022 the duo stormed at a certain businessman’s house at Masenjere trading centre whilst armed with panga knives and hacked the owner before robbing him K800,000 cash and two cellphones.

“They later proceeded to a nearby village where they did the same to another businessman’s house hacking three family members in the process and were referred to Fatima Mission Hospital for treatment,” Matemba said.

He added that Police in the District had a massive investigations which led to the arrest of the two criminals on May 5th, 2022 and they shall be taken to court as soon as investigations are complete to answer the charge of robbery which contravenes section 301 of the penal code.

“Meanwhile, as Police we are working tirelessly on the matter to recover the stolen money and the cellphones and we are also thankful to all well wishers who gave us tip-offs that resulted into the arrest of the two dangerous criminals,” he acknowledged.

Sergeant Matemba has therefore assured residents in Chikwawa that maximum security to their businesses will be provided.

Shuga hails from Chinangwa Village of Traditional Authority Katunga while Msosa comes from Modzi Village, Traditional Authority Makhwira both in Chikwawa District.
