Court in Phalombe has sentenced Dyton Julius (34) to five years imprisonment for illegal possession of two Ivory.

South East Regional police prosecutor, Senior Superintendent Florida Kunyado Dzimbiri told the court that on April 19, 2022, police arrested Julius, at Kambenje Trade Centre where he wanted to sell it.

Julius was charged with two counts of illegal possession of specimen of listed species and dealing in government trophy contrary to section 91(1) as read with section 110(b)(c) of National Park and wildlife Act.

Meanwhile, Senior Resident Magistrate Christopher Makumba, has slapped the convict with five years imprisonment for each count. The sentences will run concurrently with effect from April 19, 2022.
