Police in Mulanje have launched a search for robbers who stubbed a 71 year old man Jolosoni and killed his wife on the spot in his house at Chitimbe village, Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje district on the night of 22 May 2022.

Reports indicate the man sold out some of his cattle on 21 May 2022 and made a lot of money from his sales, he then bought a motorcycle and some other items from the money.

According to Dauglaus Thawani, the family has no children and because of this they were living alone only the two of them in the house.

“The thieves managed to get into the house through a certain hole on the corner since the cyclone Anna damaged the house and the owner had not maintained the house,” Thawani said.

He added that the robbers took the motor bike and money which they found in the bedroom, which is believed to be the change from the sales.

“The family was found laying down in the morning hours by the niece of the wife who came to take her to the garden for watering their crops,” he continued.

Thawani said their niece, who was coming to the wake up the family, shouted for help and some neighbors went there to see what was happening.

They found the couple bleeding a lot while the woman was in bad state.

“The woman lost her life on the same spot due to excessive bleeding while the man was rushed to Mulanje district hospital for treatment,” he concluded.

Mrs Jolosoni was laid to rest at her home village Wathuluwa, Traditional Authority Juma in Mulanje district while Mr Jolosoni is responding to treatment on his injuries at the district hospital.
