Civil Society Organization (CSO) under the banner Centre for Democracy Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has penned Malawi’s minister of Homeland Security Jean Sendeza to institute an inquiry of Businessman Zuneth Sattar’s visit to Malawi.
Referencing court proceedings from the United Kingdom at Uxbridge Magistrate Court in London in which Sattar is praying to court for a lift of his ban to travel to Malawi and Dubai, evidence has it that he travelled to Malawi from March 16-25, 2022.
According to CDEDI’s Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa, called on Sendeza to confirm if indeed Sattar made his way into the country defying one of his bail conditions which is not to travel into the country.
“As the minister responsible for internal security under whose portfolio falls the immigration and the police service, Malawians would like you madam to confirm the said trip,” said Namiwa.
He also questioned why did Sattar was not arrested when he came into the country.
Namiwa continued that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice and the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Martha Chizuma have a lot of explaining to do regarding the matter.
CDEDI has also called on Chizuma to update the nation on how far they have gone with Sattar’s investigations.
Sattar is accused of corruption in Malawi and United Kingdom.
