Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Leonard Chimbanga has blasted leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa for asking former President Peter Mutharika to declare his stand ahead of the 2025 Presidential polls.

Earlier this week, Nankhumwa was quoted in one of the local daily papers asking Mutharika to to state his position on whether he will run for office again or not.

Nankhumwa’s call came amid endorsement by some top gurus in the party led by DPP regional governor for the north Ackim Mwanza.

“First, ask APM to come out [clear on the matter] and express himself. That is the only time some of us can comment,” Nankhumwa was quoted saying.

But writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga said Nankhumwa is becoming a danger to himself.

“Kondwani Nakhumwa is now becoming a danger to himself. APM never said he is standing it’s people who feel he has to. So he should come out to where? Your rebellion and cheap attention are sickening.

“Do you feel you can now dictate what APM should do or say?. On whose mandate and authority do you ask such a question? Do you and let APM be,” wrote Chimbanga.

DPP is currently rocked up in leadership crisis.
