A 19-year-old RCZ choir member who defiled a 15-year-old girl from the same choir in Ndola has been arrested.
Acting Copperbelt Province Commanding officer Sharon Zulu said Mr Raphael Tembo allegedly invited the victim to his parent’s shop where he spends his nights and later had carnal knowledge of her.
Ms Zulu said the incident happened on April, 19, this year and that Mr Tembo had carnal knowledge of the victim the whole night.
She said in a statement issued to the media today that this happened following the suspect’s love proposal to the girl adding that the case was reported by the mother to the victim.
“The mother of the victim reported on behalf of her daughter that she was defiled by Raphael Tembo aged 19 years of house number 0498 Gomes area Chipulukusu compound. Facts of the matter are that, the victim and the accused person are in the same Choir at Reformed church in Zambia in Chipulukusu compound,” she said.
“In the afternoon the victim went missing from her parents’ house after the suspect had proposed love to her. When she went back home, she was put to task and that made her disclose to them. The matter was then reported at Mapalo police post and the suspect was arrested.”
