Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe has said Tobacco crop in the country is the major cash crop but due to climatic conditions and lack of inputs,forces farmers not to meet the market demand.
Lowe made the remarks at Golden Peacock in Lilongwe during the official opening of TAMA Farmers Trust Annual Congress.
The minister added that he has asked banks to provide support to tobacco farmers with the aim of increasing capital.
“We have talked to several banks in the nation in order to help the farmers with support to increase capital,” Lowe said.
This year’s Congress theme is “Diversification and value Addition for climate change impact resilience”.
