Malawi’s Minister of Information Gospel Kazako has said the social economic challenges that are rocking the country need a person of wisdom like President Lazarus Chakwera to address them.

Kazako was speaking yesterday during ‘government faces the press’ in Lilongwe over the recent hike of fuel prices in the country which he said government had no powers to control the hike.

According to Kazako it is not the will of government to see prices of essential goods rising in the country following the recent hike of fuel prices.

Kazako attributed the increase of fuel prices to the war between Ukraine and Russia as well as Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Kazako, people should know that fuel is bought on wholesale and people should not expect to buy at the same price when offloaded in the country.

However, Kazako said government is doing all it can to stabilize the economic situation of the country.

According to Kazako, the Tonse leadership already found fuel stabilization fund in mess.
