National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) has described computer literacy among people in the communities as a catalyst for democracy merge in the digitalized period.
According to Moses Kaunda, Thyolo District Civic Education Officer for Nice said they are imparting free digital skills to the locals in order to understand dynamics.
“As one way of eliminating literacy we are imparting free digital skills to the locals as a key for understanding dynamics of democracy and make informed decisions in their areas,” Kaunda said.
Titus Luwishi, one of the beneficiaries said the training that he is receiving will help him to succeed in life.
“The training is going to help me a lot because i will be able to get a job through the skills that I acquire here and even start my own business and employ other people to generate enough income,” he said.
NICE is training 30 young people in free computer lessons in Thyolo district through the government Public Sector Programme (PSIP).
