Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Leonard Chimbanga has accused Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara of having a hand in the infighting currently underway in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Chimbanga said this when reacting to Hara’s concern over the disorder which is happening in the opposition DPP with the latest being when two DPP Chief Whips namely; Symon Vuwa Kaunda and Julius Chione Mwase showed up for business committee meeting at Parliament on Wednesday.

Kaunda was appointed by Peter Mutharika’s camp while Mwase was appointed by leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

After consultation with the Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, Parliament settled for Mwase as Chief Whip for DPP.

Writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga said the infighting in DPP was created by speaker when she accepted Nankhumwa as leader of opposition.

“Interestingly, you find DPP disorder upsetting yet this is your baby. You must be ashamed of yourself for what you did. These are the fruits of your hands. The People in your constituency should know that it is their MP that sows the seed of confusion in this country when you made Kondwani Nankhumwa the MakeShift Leader of the Opposition something that you knew pretty well was unconstitutional.

“You should have allowed DPP to make its choice. Your behaviour doesn’t befit you to hold such a high and honourable office. You are a disgrace. You are an enemy of peace. You are responsible for the political instability in our country. You must repent. Tell Nankhumwa to respect the wishes of the DPP and let the Party decide who should be the leader of the opposition. People of your calibre should not come near power. You endanger people’s lives. Malawians are peace-loving people,” wrote Chimbanga.

Meanwhile, Hara is yet to comment on the matter.
