Some concerned Malawians trading under the banner “Citizens for the integrity and sanity for public offices” has threatened to hold demonstrations on July 2022 with am of forcing State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima to resign.
The development comes barely a month after President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera stopped all delegated duties to the office of the Vice President.
Chilima is accused of being involved in Corruption scandal involving well-known businessman Zuneth Sattar.
The grouping’s Chairperson Billy Malata has confirmed of the development during media briefing in the capital Lilongwe.
According to Malata, Chilima’s integrity has been compromised and Malawians can no longer trust him to hold a public position.
In a notice to the Lilongwe District commissioner, the group says they plan to march from Lilongwe Community Ground to the DC’s office.
Meanwhile, Chilima has hinted that he will cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on the matter.
