All church leaders in the country are now set to face it rough in carrying out their spiritual operations or coming up with churches from today onwards after the government introduced more hectic rules to govern their operations.

Following an official statement dated Thursday, July 14, the Societies Registrar, Maria Nyariki, said that church owners will now have to produce either a certificate, diploma or degree certificate in Theology from a recognized institution either within the country or abroad.

Other than the academia certificates, the church leaders will also be required to produce a valid certificate of good conduct and demonstrate compliance to the country’s revenue collection policy.

“In regard to registration of religious societies, documents to be submitted for registration include a certified copy of a Certificate, a Diploma or a Degree in Theology from a recognized theological institution from at least one officer of the society,” Nyariki said in the statement.
