United Transformation Movement (UTM), a party in Tonse Alliance is today celebrating its 4th anniversary.

State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima formed the party on July 21, 2018 after a fight with the then President Peter Mutharika and leader of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

The party started like movement following divisions in DPP then as others wanted Mutharika not to contest again in 2019 polls citing old age.

But this did not yield results, forcing Chilima to form his own party and he named it UTM.

In 2019, Chilima contested as President on UTM ticket and he picked celebrated comedian Michael Usi as his running mate.

The two came third in the election which was later nullified by the court.

Currently, Chilima is serving as Vice President for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera under the banner of Tonse Alliance.

Meanwhile, UTM members have taken to social media to celebrate the 4th anniversary.
