Mzuzu City Mayor Gift Desire Nyirenda has arrived at Mzuzu high court under heavy police escort.
Nyirenda is set to take plea on a defilement case he is being accused of.
The Councillor for Lubinga ward is being accused of defiling a 14 year old girl, a standard 7 leaner who happened to be her niece.
