Police in Mchinji are keeping in custody two people, Innocent Luwa, 17, and konala Mafukeni, 20 for allegedly robbing a 15 – year-old boy of a bicycle and cash amounting to K10, 000 in the district.

According to Mchinji Police Spokesperson Maxwell Jailosi, the incident happened during the night of August 21 2022 when the victim was coming from the market.

He said: “It is alleged that the victim went to sell vegetables, and on his way home, the two attacked him at mathalu village.

“They assaulted the boy, and in the process, the boy sustained multiple cuts and his left arm got amputated.”

Jailosi added that upon the arrest of the two suspects, members of the community around Mikundi Police Unit mobilised themselves and rioted to Mikundi Police Unit whilst demanding the release of the two suspects so that they deal with them.

They later damaged the Officer in-charge’s house and the house of one of the parents of the suspects.

Innocent Luwa hails from Laisi village, and konala Mafukeni hails from Mwale village, the area of Traditional Authority M’duwa in the District.
