Police in Kawale, Lilongwe are keeping in custody a Head teacher at Chifuniro Private Secondary School identified as Dan Kachilonda Banda, 36, on suspicion that he stole school funds worthy K4.5 Million.
It is reported that, the owner of the said school noticed the shortfall during a routine auditing process.
Upon being quizzed of the matter, the suspect failed to account for the money before he was eventually arrested by police.
Banda will appear before court to answer the charge of theft which contravenes section 278 of the Penal Code.
He hails from Kambalame Village Traditional Authority Mkumbira in Nkhatabay District.
