Supreme Court Judge Justice Smokin Wanjala on Thursday, left the Supreme Court in stitches after posing a rather tricky question to one of William Ruto’s lead counsels Kioko Kilukumi.

While posing questions to Ruto and IEBC’s legal team, Justice Wanjala tickled Kilukumi over his earlier submission, where he had referred to the biblical King Solomon, who used his wisdom to find out the mother of the baby between two mothers who were each claiming ownership of the alive baby.

Kilukumi had urged the judges not to split the baby into two, but rather use its wisdom to know the real mother and hand over the baby. However, Justice Wanjala tickled Kilukumi, questioning whether his team was ready to act like the real mother in the bible and letting the other mother take the baby instead of killing the infant (allowing Raila’s team to take the victory)

“Finally Mr Kilukumi, you know you cited king Solomon and this court treats holy scriptures seriously. You said there is a victory because in King Solomon’s story, the protagonists were distinguished mothers, but here, you call them two gentlemen…but I also remember that one of the mothers who turned out not to be the true mother of the child was telling Solomon to cut the baby into two the other one told her t take the baby because she was interested in keeping the baby alive, would you be willing to let go and advise the other team (Raila’s team) to take the baby?” posed Wanjala amid laughter from the courtroom.

It is a question that cheered the whole courtroom, leaving nobody behind as lawyers from both sides burst into laughter
