A 10-year-old boy has hung himself in his father’s bathroom in Mponela, Dowa.
Reasons are yet to be established
The deceased whose identity we have hided came from Mdabwi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Dzoole.
Sergeant Macpatson Msadala Public Relations Officer Mponela Police Station explained the incident occurred on September 18, 2022 at around 6:00 o’clock.
It is reported that at around 17:00 hours, the 10 year old went to a near-by river to draw water in order to bath.
After coming back, he went for bathing in a bathroom but people were surprised to see that he was not coming out.
This prompted people to go and check but they found he had hung himself.
The matter was reported to Mponela Police Station following which officers visited the scene of crime in the company of a medical officer from Mponela Rural Hospital. Postmortem results singled out suffocation secondary to strangulation as cause of death.
