The Malawi Revenue Authority – MRA says it has collected a total of 276 billion kwacha in taxes within the 2012/2013 financial year surpassing its 254 billion kwacha target.

MRA Deputy Commissioner General Mr. Crispin Kulemeka says this represent a 43 percent increase compared to the previous financial year.

Meanwhile, Consumer rights body the Consumers Association of Malawi CAMA says this entails how punitive Malawi’s taxes are on people.
