Information reaching this publication indicates that Citizens Against Impunity and Corruption Joshua Chisa Mbele and others have been arrested and are being kept at Lilongwe police station.
National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya has refused to comment on the matter.
Chisa Mbele and others led demonstrations in the morning in Lilongwe but the group refused to deliver its petition at Lilongwe District Council, demanding that District Commissioner Lawford Palani receive the petition at State house, since President Lazarus Chakwera is not in Lilongwe.
As the protesters departed the DC’s office commotion erupted forcing the law enforcers to fire teargas to disperse the grouping.
