Councilors in Mulanje have today ordered the immediate transfer of their Director of Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources, Yaz Nyirenda from the district accusing him of abuse of office and arrogance.

The councilors through the chairperson of the Agriculture Service Committee Councilor, Alex Lufaneti said if the Director is not removed from the district, the committee should be abolished as all councilors are no longer interested to work with him.

Nyirenda who was part of the meeting immediately walked out after the announcement. He later told the press that he will seek guidance from the Local Authority Service Commission (LASCOM) and the Ministry of Agriculture who are his employers.

Parliamentarians and chiefs who are attending the meeting agreed with the decision to have Mr. Nyirenda transferred from the district and the council Chairperson Thokozani Namoyo announced that Nyirenda is transferred from the district.
