Reports reaching this publication indicates that government has closed Machinga Teachers Training College indefinitely.

Chikondano Mussa, Principal Secretary in the ministry of education has confirmed this to MIJ Online.

Since the start of this week, some students have been pushing authorities at the institution to pay their training allowances.

As of today, the students started rioting, blocking the Zomba and Mangochi road and demanding money from the users in the process.

However, Mussa blamed the students for providing wrong details to the institutions for the facilitation of their allowances.

Speaking to local radio station MIJ FM, Mussa has bemoaned the behavior which has been described as unruly hence resolving to the closure of the institution.

More details to come…
