The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) has said that Israel and Luxembourg have encroached on Malawi’s orbital space.

Addressing a press conference in Lilongwe ahead of the space conference the country is scheduled to host tomorrow, Macra director general Daud Suleman said the encroachment is a result of the country’s failure to utilise the space.

He said Malawi has since asked the two countries to vacate the space or commit to be paying fees.

The International Telecommunications Union allocated Malawi two spaces, according to www.africanews.space.

One slot is designated for broadcast satellite services, while the other is for fixed satellite services.
