Kachere Agriculture Trading managing director Smolet Kachere claims that there is more rot regarding NFRA maize stocks at Admarc than the alleged disappearance of 13 trucks of maize under his contract.

Speaking in an interview Kachere alleged that there are big thieves who have stolen huge quantities.

He alleged that the information that is coming out about his contract is only being made to conceal the lot.

“What is there is that some big thieves have stolen maize from Admarc. So they want to make sure that we should not finish the process of picking maize so that the maize should not be accounted for.

“They are claiming that they have got about 38 000 metric tonnes of maize in Admarc depots but I can assure you there is less than that. The maize has been stolen. There are big thieves who have taken the maize that is why the publicity about this issue is very huge. They have sponsored highly, people are sponsoring this issue so that it is blown out of proportion,” said Kachere.

The Joint parliamentary committee inquiring on AIP and maize related issues has since sent back Kachere on grounds that the case is in court.

Kachere is accused of stealing 14 trucks loaded with maize from ADMARC.
