The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched an investigation in the Affordable Input Program (AIP) scandal which has seen the Tonse Alliance government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera being duped MK750 million by Barkaat Food Company.

ACB Director General Martha Chizuma revealed this when she appeared before the joint Parliamentary Committee inquiring into the matter.
According to Chizumwa, her office has set up two teams to investigate the matter.

Chizuma said tha the Bureau will investigate the 30 billion Kwacha AIP funds including the Paramount holdings fertilizer deal.

She said they are hoping to conclude investigations into the matter by January next year.

The AIP scandal saw President Chakwera firing the then Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe on grounds of incompetency.

He replaced Lowe with Sam Kawale.
