President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has asked graduants from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) to embrace Agriculture innovations if the country is to move forward.
Chakwera said this on Friday during the LUANAR’s 6th Graduation Ceremony at Bunda Campus in Lilongwe.
According to Chakwera, Malawi’s greatest economic strength is agriculture.
“We must change our entire approach for farming by embracing it as an enterprise for creating wealth,” said Chakwera.
He added: “One of the biggest lies we believe as a country is that farming requires rain, it is true that growing crops requires water but there are many ways to get water into the soil than sitting around and waiting for rain.
“Malawi is a nation blessed with water in lakes, rivers and many more and we can use this water for irrigation.”
Chakwera has given Diplomas, Degrees and PHDs to 439 grandaunts and in terms of gender 316 are males and 123 are female.
