A deputy head teacher at Majiga primary school, Rafael Chikabwereza from Machinga has been released after being arrested for punishing an 8 year old learner for playing in a school garden.
The eight year old boy was told to kneel on a bare concrete floor for over an hour during a sunny afternoon on the 26th October 2022, which resulted to the boy getting serious burns and bruises on his knees.
His worship Maxwell Boasi says the case was a misdemeanor in regards to section 337(1b) of the criminal procedure and evidence code.
According to Child rights activist Amos Chibwana, the child has not received justice to the unbearable pain he suffered.
Police prosecutor Isaac Mponela says they will respect the order.
