National Registration Bureau (NRB) Chief Registration Officer responsible for national identity cards Asante Mussa has been arrested.

NRB Principal Secretary Mark Sambo has confirmed of the arrest in a memo addressed to members of staff.

According to Sambo, Mussa was arrested at Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

“It is not known as at the time of arrest what crime Mr. Mussa may have committed,” reads part of the internal memo signed for by Sambo.

Inside sources say the arrest has to do with suspicion that Mussa may have been involved with illegal issuance of national IDs to some foreigners.
