The Tonse Alliance government under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has lifted a ban on civil servants to hold conferences along the Lake shores.
Chakwera through Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba affected the ban two months ago on Civil Servants as one way of controlling government money.
Announcing this when presenting the mid-year budget Minister of Finance and Economic Development Sosten Gwengwe said the lifting of the ban is aimed at promoting the tourism sector which is recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The ban severely affected lakeside resorts that depend on revenue generated mostly from hosting conferences.
