The National Planning Commission (NPC) is set to honor former president Bakili Muluzi who is also the former leader of United Democratic Front (UDF) for leading the setting-up of government institutions.
Muluzi set institutions like the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the office of the Ombudsman as well as Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), just to mention a few.
According to the Director General of the Commission Thomas Munthali ,the Inter-generational Development Champion award is to show appreciation for the former president’s launch of Vision 2020, on which the Malawi 2063 agenda was built.
NPC will also be awarded for introducing inclusive socio-economic empowerment initiatives like free primary school education.
The commission said the award will be handed to Muluzi soon.
