Concerned citizens in Lilongwe are accusing the Inspector General of Police Merlyn Yolamu for defending suspects who are allegedly involved in the murder of a Rwandan National Emillie Halimana Noel.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lilongwe, leader of the concerned citizens Wales Khama said that the police are not taking Halimana’s case seriously.
According to Khama, they have written Parliament to summon the Police Inspector General and interview her on the matter.
Halimana, a 31 year old man was reported to have died in a road accident last month but but there are suspicions that he was killed.
The concerned citizens claim that a group connected to the driver’s family, who happens to be the cousin of Halimana’s ex-wife, took control of everything after the accident without waiting for the police to do their work as is always the case during road accidents.
