National Statistical Office (NSO) today organized a data access and utilization working session which is aimed at equipping journalists with basic knowledge on commonly used indicators and how to access them electronically.

The session took place in Lilongwe where NSO said trustworthy in reporting is a key to bridging a gap on information sharing between policy makers and the general public.

According to Richard Phiri, Principal Statistician at NSO, coaching journalists on data basic issues is vital since it helps them to analyse some technical information for accurate reporting.

In addition to that, Chikumbutso Mtumodzi Director of Information at Ministry of Information and Digitalisation appreciated NSO saying this will equip journalists to improve their way of writing articles with interpreted data.

Taonga Sabola Executive Member for Association of Business Journalists said the session will help improving their writing skills when publishing information to the public.
