Police have arrested Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) boss Martha Chizuma.

National spokesperson for Malawi Police Service (MPS) Peter Kalaya has confirmed.

However, Kalaya could not divulge more details on Chizuma’s arrest.

He said more details will be given in due course.

According to Kalaya, Chizuma was arrested this morning.

Martha kaukonde, Chizuma’s lawyer said she was arrested around 4 am.

Kaukonde says she is still verifying details and circumstances around the case but says she understands the arrest is in relationship to the leaked audio clip in which Chizuma allegedly spoke to a third party matters around the fight against corruption in the country.

She is currently at Namitete police station in the capital Lilongwe.

Chizuma’s arrest comes few weeks after she arrested the country’s vice president Saulos Chilima for allegedly being involved in corruption activities involving UK based businessman Zuneth Sattar.

More details to follow.
