Information reaching this publication indicates that convicted former Minister of Information and Digitalization Henry Mussa has refunded money amounting to Mk K7,650, 000 ahead of his sentencing in genset-gate scandal.

Mussa was convicted together with former Director of Information Gideon Munthali.

The two were answering charges of conspiracy to commit felony, theft by public servant and receiving stolen items, in relation to disappearance of 10 computers and a genset.

According to information at hand, Mussa has repaid K7,650, 000 to government to replace the missing computers and generator.

Mussa’s lawyer Gilbert Khonyongwa has confirmed of the development, saying its up to the court to decide on the matter.

But Munthali has not repaid the money.

The two are currently remanded at Maula Prison in the capital Lilongwe.
